There is no single wedding photographer that is perfect for every couple. They'll be with you for longer than anyone else on your wedding day and have a fundamental impact on the atmosphere of the day, as well as the memories that you're left with.
Do you want a photographer who will make the day a photoshoot? Or maybe someone who will stay hidden for the entire wedding and be completely uninvolved?
Once you've had a think about this, continue reading and you should come away with a sense of whether or not I'm the right fit for you.
"Tom is a true artist and we're so glad we booked him to be such an integral part of our day"
I'm often described as a 'relaxing presence' (just take a look at my Google reviews). Loud only when I need to be, and subtly driving the day forward so as to keep energy levels high.
I spend the time to get to know you and your guests so that when I'm photographing, everyone remains in their element. This approach in combination with my style of photography forms a blend of authenticity and editorialism.
I give particular focus to bringing out the most in each and every moment. I intentionally slow things down during the couple shoot which will be an effortless 20 minute session; I keep it short and strategically choose times such as in between meal courses so that your guests will barely notice you've been gone, but also allows enough time to create the most intimate images that may have previously seemed out of reach.
There's no pressure to perform during your portraits, I'll be subtly nudging you in the right direction and talking you through the whole thing. Years of experience in direction has even the most camera shy couples left with images that belong in the pages of Vogue.
I pay close attention to every carefully crafted detail and the behind the scenes that you don't get to see, like flowers being arranged or your guests meeting for the first time at dinner.
And when I say details I don't just mean design choices, but the people too. Details that often go unnoticed; hands touching and affectionate glances.
I may be calm on the surface but there isn't a moment where I'm not observing everything around me. I'll not only capture how things look but how they feel too.
the couple shoot
the dance floor
Couple shoots usually take place after the ceremony and just before the sun sets, aptly named golden hour. I'll invite you to join me for 20 minutes in the beautiful surroundings of your venue. Now is your time to unwind, where the only thing you have to think about is each other. By now I'll know the type of images that resonate with you, the things that make you smile.
And don't worry about standing in front of the camera wondering what to do next, I'll be subtly nudging you in the right direction whilst allowing you to be yourselves.
the dance floor
back to start
I'm not a photographer who leaves as soon as you've finished your first dance, because those who know me know that I love a good night out and so I feel right at home on the dance floor. I'll swap to a wide angle lens, mount my flash gun and get into the middle of the action to document the chaos and jubilation that ensues.
Some of my all time favourite photos have come from the dance floor which is why I don't set off as soon as the first dance is finished. This is the time for you and your guests to truly let your hair down so you can throw down - leave it until the morning to regret that I've captured absolutely *everything*.
My edit has a graceful, classic feel with a dash of warmth. Green tones are natural but warm, whilst skin and textures are soft with fine details subtly enhanced.
That last bit is so important, because most people spend hours having their hair done in the morning and have chosen a dress with the finest details, so I spend a lot of care ensuring those details are clearly reflected in my images.
Throughout the day I use flash sparingly and only in moments where I feel it adds something to the image, such as overcast days to add dramatic shadows where the sun isn't doing that for me. Sometimes I'll use flash to create a more editorial look where the moment calls for it, and when the evening comes I'll add direct flash for the dance floor and night time couple portraits for that classy Vogue look.
I use it as a base for my edit and nothing else. The photo selection process is done entirely by hand with no input from AI, and each photo is then carefully edited manually with any distracting elements removed.
If what I've said has resonated with you, we might just be the perfect fit.
Hopefully my transparent approach to how I work has confirmed whether or not we're a good fit for each other.
I'm looking for couples who want the most beautiful day and the images to reflect the fun they had to look back on for decades to come.
In the most humble way possible, couples who book me trust me implicitly to capture everything without the need to give me an extensive shot list or micro manage in any way, because years of experience has taught me how to understand each and every one of my couples on the deepest level and create something beyond your Wildest Dreams (yes, I'm also a huge Swiftie).
So, if you're ready to take the next step, let's do this!
