I recently had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the breathtaking
Pentney Abbey
in Norfolk. For full disclosure before I go onto the details, my good friend
Jack Aldridge
was the main man on this one. As a second photographer, it was my job to spend the morning with the boys, capture some candids and get artistic whilst Jack had the main bits covered.
Overall, I was so happy with the final images. Pentney Abbey provided the perfect setting for a classy and elegant wedding, and I was grateful to have been a part of capturing the magic of Matthew and Karina's day.
So, let's talk about this venue.
The historic former monastery, dating back to 1380, provided the perfect backdrop for Matthew and Karina's day. The charming gatehouse, arched mullion windows, and spacious courtyard set the scene for a truly iconic wedding.
As an editorial wedding photographer, I knew I wanted to capture the elegance and sophistication of the venue and the couple's attire. Matthew chose a classic tuxedo from M&S' Sartorial Line, while Karina was a vision in a stunning gown by Freda Bennet. The contrast of the black and white attire against the ancient stone walls created a timeless and stylish aesthetic.
One of my favorite images was taken from above during the ceremony, as the couple exchanged vows in front of the historic abbey. I was able to stand in the gatehouse to include the full wedding party as well as Karina and Matthew holding hands as they exchanged vows.

When hosting an event at Pentney Abbey, it is recommended that couples take full advantage of the exclusive use of the venue and grounds from 2pm until 12 midnight on the day of the event. This allows for a seamless and stress-free experience for both hosts and guests. Additionally, hosts may want to consider utilizing the Gatehouse for a drinks reception, as it can comfortably hold up to 40 guests. This space provides a charming and intimate setting for mingling and enjoying cocktails before moving on to the main event.
