The Mount Without is a hidden gem located in the vibrant city of Bristol, my hometown. Walking in here for the first time, I felt like I was stepping into the great hall at Hogwarts, the mesmerizing ceiling installation instantly capturing my eye. As Bristol wedding venues go, this one really is special.
Its’ historic charm, intriguing lighting and rustic interiors make for an incredible venue to get married in, and a wonderful place to photograph.
Mount Without Weddings are genuinely so special, and if I was still local to Bristol, it would have been my number one contender for my own wedding venue. Being two hours away from where I now live in Nottingham, unfortunately it was slightly out of range to consider. However if you’re looking for a charming rustic wedding venue in the heart of Bristol, then look no further.
As a Mount Without wedding photographer with many years of experience photographing venues all around the world, allow me to personally recommend this stunning venue which is atop my list of favourite places to photograph.
The Main Hall
The ceremony space really is like no other. If you want the church feel with an added ‘wow factor’, The Mount Without really delivers with its huge stained glass windows and of course, its highlight feature–the figure of eight hanging from the ceiling. Every time I’ve worked here, it’s so fun capturing guests filled with awe as they enter the hall.
A few years ago I posted an image that blew up on social media. It was a view of the hall from above, the large sculpture hanging over guests as they sat for the wedding breakfast arranged into four long trestle tables–it really was akin to a feast at Hogwarts.
Other Spaces
Whilst the ceremony and wedding breakfast is held in the main hall, the venue also features an outdoor space for mingling during the cocktail hour, as well as the crypt below for the evenings entertainment featuring a dancefloor, bar and easy to access toilets. This means you’re never wandering around to find guests for family photos, and the day flows so seamlessly from beginning to end.
Staff are a highlight of the venue too. They add to the seamless feel to the day, allowing your wedding to be about just the two of you and your guests. With in-house caterers, Bianchis, you really can’t go wrong with the suppliers looking after you.

As a photographer with experience photographing weddings at The Mount Without on several occasions, it’s so beneficial to have someone who knows the venue inside out and all of the best photo spots. The staff are familiar with me too as it’s my most photographed venue of 2025, and so I’ve quickly built trust with both couples that have worked with me and the staff as well.
